This week we made cheese rolls. Here is the recipe we followed so you can try them at home. Thank you to everyone who brought in ingredients-we cannot do this without these contributions so it is very much appreciated! Also, a big thank you to Chantel for coming in and helping us.
1 can of evaporated milk
1 packet of onion soup mix
1 cup of grated cheese
1 loaf of bread
Margarine/butter for serving
Preheat your oven to 180°C. In a saucepan, heat the evaporated milk and onion soup mix gradually until it thickens. Keep stirring the mixture the whole time as it may stick to the bottom of the pot. Take it off the heat and mix in the grated cheese.
Get a piece of bread and roll it with a rolling pin to flatten it a bit.
Once the bread has been rolled, spread a tablespoon of the cheese mixture onto on end of the bread and spread it across. Roll the bread from the edge that the cheese mixture is on and place on a baking tray with the roll edge facing down.
Cook in the oven for 10-15 mins. For the last 3-5 minutes you can grill them to brown the top of the cheese rolls.
Serve with butter or marg spread on top.
